Come and see what Rory McGrath's talking about in the new series of The Lakes on ITV1 Have you been watching? Its been excellent publicity for the Lakes, showing fantastic scenery of the lakes and views on local life; everything from sailing boat instructors to micro pig farmers!
Did you feel the Earthquake?! (Twice!) On 21st December 2010 at approx 11pm we had an earthquake in the Lakes! It measured 3.5 on the Richter Scale and the epicenter was Coniston which is 8 miles from Ambleside. It lasted about 10 seconds and was very frightening! Luckily no damage has been recorded. Then on 5th January 2011 there was another earthquake! This one measuring 3.6 on the Richter Scale, though the epicenter was Ripon, North Yorkshire it could still be felt by many in the Lakes and surrounding areas!
