Leisure Time

The Lake District is a breathtaking part of nature's playground, and our local knowledge of the activities and attractions available will make all the difference to your Lake District break. With so many great attractions for all the family right on our doorstep, the question is where to start to get the most out of your stay?

Waterhead Bay

Waterhead Bay is an incredibly picturesque and popular bay surrounded by traditional Lakeland slate houses, hotels, restaurants, cafes and shops. The views from the bay are stunning, stretching across the lake to the Langdale Pikes and beyond.

In an area where we are spoilt for choice for great views, great activities and fantastic local produce, Waterhead Bay stands out for encapsulating all of those things.

Lake House guest accommodation is the perfect base for those who enjoy messing about on the water. You can hire a rowing boat, enjoy watersports, feed the ducks or take a cruise on the Lake with Windermere Lake Cruises, all within yards of our front door!

Local Attractions

Just a short northerly stroll of our beautiful bay is Borrans Park, a fantastic picnic destination and the place to examine the remains of the Roman Fort of Galava.

For those with a head for heights, try Go Ape, Grizedale Forest's challenging course of rope bridges and zip slides up to 60 feet above the forest floor. Or if you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground and a more sedate pace of life, why not visit Keswick Pencil Museum, home of the world's longest pencil, or make time to see Peter Rabbit and friends?

If you enjoy a challenge, try finding your way out of the Meadow Vole Maze or get up close and personal with the owls at haunted Muncaster Castle. Finally, round the day off with a family film at Zeffirellis cinema in Ambleside village.

Our staff will be on hand during your stay to help you find the best of the huge choice of local attractions. Kitted out with maps for stunning walking routes and guides and leaflets galore, you're sure to make the most of your trip to nature's playground with a stay at Lake House!
